Joan Gleason Giles Wyant

Joan G. Giles Wyant, 81, of Roseland, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Born in Lynchburg, December 10, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Robert Milton and Helen Day Gleason.

Joan was a faithful member of Rose Union Baptist Church and spent her time enjoying her animals, working in her flower garden, and reading mystery novels. She also enjoyed traveling and exploring new sites and cultures. Joan was a record-keeper and in later years, was a bus driver for the Nelson County Public School System.

She is survived by her three sons, Windell Giles (Lois), Robert “Bob” Giles (Cherie), and Thomas Giles (Cindy), all of Roseland; a special daughter-in-law, Tina Giles; sisters, Brenda Falls, Maria Zirkle, and Robin Rourke (Jimmy), all of Roseland; grandchildren, Brooke Bailey (Walker), Jessica Massie (Byron) of Faber, Shannon Giles of Lynchburg, Greg Giles, Wade Giles, Christopher Giles, Kaitlin Giles, and Alison Lawhorne, all of Roseland; great-great grandchildren, Heath, Aspen, Cobi, Nate, Lexi and Ben, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Wyant.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024 in the Gleason Family Cemetery, 257 Cow Hollow Rd., Roseland, VA, officiated by the Pastor of Rose Union Baptist Church, Rev. Brandon Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Almost Home Nelson County SPCA, 29 Stage Bridge Rd., Lovingston, VA 22949.
