Kenneth William Campbell “Big Red”, 67, of Lowesville passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, surrounded by his family. Born in Lynchburg on February 23, 1957, he was the son of Zelta Angus Campbell and the late Harold William Campbell.
Kenneth was retired from Griffin Pipe after many years of service. “Big Red” loved the outdoors and was devoted to fishing, hunting, mainly loved his bear hunting and hunting dogs. But also loved his farming and gardening and taking evening rides through the back roads with his wife, Carolyn Sprouse Campbell. “Big Red” was also a member of Piney River Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, “Big Red” is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Sprouse Campbell of Lowesville; his daughter, Angela Jean Campbell of Monroe; his sister, Sheila Campbell of Lowesville, along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends, and all his bear hunting buddies.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Massie and Grace Campbell, along with his maternal grandparents, Tucker and Judie Angus.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the awesome staff at UVA and all of the family and friends that have helped out with everything during this difficult time. Special thank you to his niece Karen Adams McMurray, and his daughter, Angela Jean Campbell for being there with him every day since his accident.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM on Monday September 2, 2024, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home in Roseland, VA by Pastor G. W. Mays with burial to follow in the Campbell Family Cemetery in Lowesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requests that everyone dress casual.
