Louis Allen, 75, was called home to his eternal rest on April 3, 2025, at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born in Nelson County on August 23, 1949, to the late Samuel and Annie Allen.
Louis was educated in the Nelson County School system. He was a hardworking man and retired from Wintergreen as a Landscaper. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifetime member of St. James Baptist Church, but would visit Mt. Pleasant and Zion Hill. He took comfort in loving the Lord and knew the Lord loved him.
Louis was a fun-loving man. He loved family functions which allowed him quality time with his family, his Dallas Cowboys, and talking junk to his friends to make them laugh. He was the life of the party often times dancing the young ones off the dance floor with his signature moves. Back in the day they had a recreational baseball league; you could find him on Sunday evenings in the Summer on the ball field pitching for “The Massies MillCubs” while family and friends cheered them on. This is where he earned the nickname, Lou Jack.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Shirley Hagar, Betty Vaughan, Constance Toliver, and Geneva Allen. One Brother, Russell Allen, a grandson; Anthony Morgan, and son-in-law; Richard Holmes.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Allen. Two Sisters; Roberta Hudson (James) of Roseland, VA, and Louise Toliver of Amherst, VA. Nine children: Louis Allen (Diane) of Amherst, VA, Kenneth Allen (Candy) of LaPlatta, MD, Pamela “Michelle” Wactor (Joseph) of Fredericksburg, VA, Kelvin “Troy” Toliver of Massies Mill, VA, Felicia “Lisa” Johnson of Fredericksburg, VA, Denise “Anky” Holmes of Amherst, VA, Anthony “Spud” Toliver, of Massies Mill, VA, Alvin “Dick” Toliver and Don “Covey” Toliver both of Amherst, VA, one sis-in-law Jean Toliver and a God Daughter, Susie Toliver. He was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. James Baptist Church by Pastor Brenda Brown with burial to follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
