Margaret Jett Whitlock, affectionately known as “Cora” of Monroe, VA departed this life on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born September 25, 1950, in Nelson County, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Cabell III and Irene Jett Cabell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joe Lewis Cabell; three brothers, James, Roger, and Carroll Jett; three great grandsons, Drake Wayne and Skyler Anthony Branham, and Tavion Jace Perkins.
During her youth, Margaret realized she needed Christ in her life and became a member of the Saint James Baptist Church in Roseland, VA. She was educated in the Nelson County Public Schools.
Margaret had a heart full of compassion for helping those in need. She was a dedicated and loyal caregiver and continued in this profession until her health began to decline. She relished every moment of time spent with her family. The sports of fishing and baseball were her favorite hobbies. Although cooking was at the very top of her list, followed by traveling and playing cards with loved ones.
Fond memories will be forever cherished by her two daughters, Ann Perkins (Dea. Jerome) of Concord, VA, and Patricia Jett of Monroe, VA; one son, Aaron Essex of Amherst, VA; three brothers, Wayne Jett of Amherst, VA, Joe Lee Cabell of Clayton, NC, and John Cabell of Madison Heights, VA; one sister, Carolyn Jett of Lynchburg, VA; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one dear aunt, Mary J. Brown of MD; a devoted and faithful cousin, Nancy Hagar (Rev. James) of Lynchburg, VA; devoted friend, Emma Leftwich of Lowesville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by Rev. James Hagar with burial to follow in The Robinson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
You’ll Never Walk Alone
